ISSN Conference June 25 and 26th

Having any excuse to visit Clear Water, FL. would have me on the next plane out here. I have to say that it is exactly like Cancun but with out the "Mexico" :)

Thanks to EvolultioNutrition I am working and learning at the ISSN (International Society of Sports Nutrition) Expo. The expo is filled with people interested in sports nutrition and the science of supplements...my kind of people.

I have had the opportunity to sit in on many lectures concerning specific scientific research on all things sports nutrition based. EvolutioNutrition is also getting more positive attention and feed back since it provides a much needed service to all fitness professionals and any individual concerned with there nutritional health and performance.

After the expo and speakers on Friday we attended a Luau that had belly dancers and Zumba dancers and I got a great shot of the CEO of ISSN dancing Zumba...good times.
Then Jeff and I head out to a local "dive bar" to play pool  (I am horrible) and watch a band. I don't know the name of the band but the drummer was phenominal! But I was in bed by 11:30 so I could catch more lectures in the morning before the last day of the expo.

Now it's back to San Diego! I am so grateful for this experience and all I have learned here at the ISSN expo. I am more motivated as an athlete, nutritionist, and future supplement line founder. Next show, NSCA in Orlando.

It all started w/ running..

When I first got inspired to get into fitness and lose weight I started running. I was in high school and I was someone who never thought I would run for FUN or be any good at it at that rate. But after passing the initial feeling of compressed lungs and sore muscles and joints, I found the first thing that forced my body to change.
I started running track and cross-counrty and found that not only was this a great hobby but I wasn't all that bad at it once I go into shape. So that's what started it all.
Even though weight training shapes your body the best, cardio (running) burns the calories to show off that shape. Plus, it's the one thing that I can truly say is like therapy to me...I mean..I can take my i-pod and some running shoes and run anywhere!
So my new goal is break 8 min. miles in a half marathon...I almost did it when I was 19, I should be able to do it 9 years later, right?

It's back!

So summer is literally around the corner, are you ready to hit the beach in a bathing suit?

There has been a lot of "Boot Camps" popping up all over the place and for good reason. They are effective and affordable. My name is Vanessa Van Overmeer and I have ran camps from here to LA and now I am back in San Diego and have teamed up with a former triathlete/ life guard/ fire academy graduate turned figure competitor (Lauren Kafin) to give you the most effective workout to get you in shape for the summer and to show off your tanned and toned body!
Our "Boot Camp" is more of a fat burning/ body sculpting class so forget you fatigues and bring your tanks and short and lots of water because it's going to get hot. :)
Free Introductory* Beach Physique Workout:
Location: San Diego Convention Center Stairs (off Harbor dr. )
Time: 10:00 am Saturday morning, May 22nd
Price: First class is FREE

*This introductory class is to introduce you to our program so that you can get a head start on the summer crowd.

Casting Call Video for a Teen Weight Loss Show

I sent in this video in hopes of helping one teen make the leap from high school to college. I believe this transition can help a person develop who they are and realize that the world is bigger then the high school they came from.
I would feel blessed to help someone feel more confidant in making this growth and transition through the avenue of fitness and nutrition.
Wish me luck!

CSCCa Convention 2010

Ahhhh well although adjusting to the time change here in Orlando, FL. is rough, the show is great. A lot of athletes and coaches noticing the benefit of EvolutioNutrition. I am excited to be apart of this evolutionary idea towards changing the way athletes and coaches view nutrition for their athletes. Not only will this on-line application in tracking meal plans and stats be easy to use, but it will provide a NETWORK of information these coaches and athletes can LEARN from.....I am excited to utilize this site myself!
We also ran a push-up contest where I did the counting..some of these guys can do more push-ups then I can count and using the "perfect push-up" also.
The current winner is 74 and with a pretty sweet i-pod nano as the prize we are appealing to their competitive sides. We didn't forget the ladies though, there is a girls contest as well and I am just upset that I can't compete for it. :)
There are also plenty of physical activities going in the middle of the convention. I am not complaining at all. If I have to wake up at 3:30 my time I better see some athletes pulling weights...otherwise it wouldn't be worth it ;).

Getting Started...

...I had a great Birthday and got the drinks and ice cream out of my system...now it's time to get started.
I will be out of town in Orlando FL. for the CSCC convention helping out EvolutioNutrition do a soft launch on their new online network that provides tools for planing diets for individuals and teams.
But by the time I am back on Friday it's all about focusing on my next show and my next venture. I may have some good opportunities coming my way and I want to be able to put my best foot forward, so to speak.
I will try and post pictures of the convention. Until, next time :)

Going after my dream....

The past year for me has been one of the hardest to date. Being someone who has never been satisfied with OK or not being able to live up to my full potential, I found myself going after a dream. The dream to start a company based on passion, knowledge, and with a strong belief that what you are providing will help someone reach their goals faster.
For the past 9 years I have focused on everything that has to do with health, nutrition, and fitness. When the business side of me starts to take over, I still want to be able to enjoy my passion of fitness. So I combined them.  Helping clients reach their fitness and nutrition goals is rewarding but I still want to do more.
After working for great companies like Met-Rx/ Worldwide and Max Muscle, as well as smaller companies like Muscle Werks, I found that I had a passion for providing supplements to athletes and consumers. I realized that when I was training for a show the things that keep me going were belief in a supplement. That extra energy or recovery you got from your fat burner or BCAA.
But what to take? And how do you know the products you are taking are really doing what they claim.
I realized that there are 2 ways to get your products known. 1) Pay as many people to say they take them and advertise in EVERY magazine available. 2) Provide the store owners with a quality product with a good profit margin so they WANT to sell to the consumer. And by saving money on large marketing campaigns you can put that money into your product to create a word-of-mouth response.
I went with option 2.....
PR Labs will start production in May and will be available for customers by the summer. I am really excited about our first product which will be a fat burner with a clinically tested combination of ingredients that have proven to help you reach your weight loss and lean body goals.
As soon as we launch I will be sharing information on this blog and our website coming soon.
It is a dream of mine to combine business with something I love and create an ethical product through research and testing......I am elated to get started.

Time for a new goal!

So,
Starting the second week in May I will be blogging my training for Los Angeles Bodybuilding, Figure, and  Bikini NPC contest.
Follow me and my client Lauren Kafin on our journey to the LA's!
I may switch to bikini but I am going to attack this training and dieting just as fierce as I do for figure and see how I look at the end of these 12 weeks.
Should be fun and challenging!
